Education and Experience :

Dr. Sagana Shahreen Chowdhury completed her post-graduation (MS) in Anatomy in 2020 from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka. During the period of her post-graduation at BSMMU, Dr. Sagana conducted her research on BRCA1 mutation in the breast cancer patients. She has publications in refereed journals on the topics of BRCA1 mutation in the breast cancer patients, NKX2.5 gene mutation in Bangladeshi pediatric patients with congenital hypothyroidism, prevalence of HIV, hepatitis B and C virus in overseas job seekers of Bangladesh with the possible routes of transmission, pattern of antimicrobial susceptibility for Salmonella Typhi and anthropometric study of nasal index among the population of Bangladeshi Santal female. Her main research interest includes molecular and genetic basis of medical disorders. She was awarded ‘Honourable Chancellor’s Gold Medal’ from the Faculty of Basic Sciences and Paraclinical Sciences of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University for the year 2020 for her outstanding result in Anatomy. Besides her regular work of her department at NINS, she is taking part to run FISH technique at the molecular lab of Neuropathology Department of NINS as an additional activity.
